Department of Physics (Estd: 2013)

The department provides a very vibrant and dynamic academic ambience with effective tutorial work, discussions and seminars. The department facilitates opportunities for higher studies and placements. The department library is enriched with 2000 volumes of books. More than half a dozen research journals are subscribed. The intake capacity of degree course is 40The Department of Physics is inspired by the belief that Law of Nature is the beautiful if explained in a scientific manner. Its pedagogical practices include informal classroom interactions, model demonstration, students’ seminar, paper presentations, wall magazines which enable students to explore the fascinating world of Physics. Physics holds an important place in the history of humanity and is valuable to the future of all human beings, and this is a belief, that guides the functioning of the department of Physics. The mission of the department is to inspire, prepare, and empower students to succeed in the ever-changing world. The department provides an environment conducive to nurturing analytical minds. It is the endeavour of the department to offer a rich academic experience wherein students learn to think critically, communicate theoretical concepts effectively, and become lifelong learners. The intention is to promote interdisciplinary learning so that the students develop a wider perspective and equips them with the resources necessary not only for subject learning but to enable them to compete with confidence at multiple levels in various fields. The students at the Department of Physics are provided with holistic education to empower them to lead from the front. The teachers adopt techniques such as discussions and power point presentations to encourage the students in exploring the subject. Interactive sessions are conducted before the beginning of a new topic or chapter to enable the students to have in-depth knowledge and practical application of the same is taught in an elaborate manner. The students are provided with practice sheets on a regular basis for revision. Assignments and practicum are also conducted to provide the students a base to excel in final exams. Computer Lab having 15 machines with C++, Fortran and Python are sed to perform numerical methods. Student queries and doubts are tackled through tutorials conducted regularly. The students are encouraged to think out of the box and tackle real life situations. .
